Meta Updates Instagram Highlights With Donation Tools
Instagram Reels allows users to generate reels and give to organisations in over 30 countries, with over 1.5 million organisations to pick from.
To help raise money for over 1.5 million organisations in over 30 countries, Meta has integrated fundraising into Instagram Reels.
As part of a series of announcements made today to commemorate Earth Day, a fundraising effort in the form of Reels was detailed.
According to the release, some celebrities are currently using the new fundraising tools to raise awareness about pressing environmental concerns.
The usage of short movies to promote organisations and charity causes has been demonstrated to be successful in the past.
Fundraisers that have employed short-form video have had a lot of success and became well-known.
One of the most famous is the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, which went viral on Facebook and inspired the founding of Meta’s Social Impact team.

Here’s how to post a fundraising video to your Instagram Reels on iOS and Android:
Launch Instagram.
- Select Reel by tapping the add button in the upper right.
- Make a Demo Reel
- Click Next.
- Fill in the caption and hit Insert fund-raising
- Pick the charity you’d like to support and specify the amount of money you’d want to donate
- When you’re finished, tap the share button.
You can make changes to the fundraiser after it has been created, including the end date and the amount you hope to raise.

Instagram users have been using workarounds to donate to charities through Reels for a while, but now there’s a proper channel for doing so.
Meta, like other fundraising platforms, will pay any associated processing fees for your donations. Funds earned through Instagram Reels campaigns are donated entirely to the designated organisation.
According to Search Engine Journal, a Meta public relations official said that environmental conservation is in the top three causes that Facebook and Instagram users give to.
Most Instagram donations in the past 12 months have been around $20 USD, but every little bit helps.

The Ocean Cleanup, the World Wildlife Fund, and the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust are the three most popular environmental NGOs on Instagram in terms of the amount of contributors they get.
